Sparsh BPO services opens centre in Puducherry

Chennai (PTI): To provide customer support services for mobile service operator Aircel in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Sparsh BPO Services, a subsidiary of Intelenet Global Services, inaugurated its new delivery centre in Puducherry.

The delivery centre would serve Aircel's prepaid and postpaid customers in Tamil Nadu circle, a company press release here said.

The facility is designed in the French colonial style with a capacity of 700 seats, it said.

The company also claimed that the centre is the largest BPO employer in puducherry, with an initial headcount of 1600.

"We are delighted to partner Aircel, one of the frontrunners in the telecom industry in India. Puducherry is an emerging outsourcing destination for the IT-BPO sector and we chose the union territory for its excellent infrastructure" Intelenet Global Services CEO Susir Kumar said.

For Aircel's customers in the Chennai circle, Sparsh provides services out of its Chennai centre, employing about 500 people. Both centres would provide customer service in English and Tamil.

"As we expand our business in South India, we needed a partner with core strengths in the domestic telecom industry and Sparsh as the leading domestic BPO player was the obvious choice" Aircel COO Gurdeep Singh said.

Sparsh has 18 delivery centres in seven locations, including its presence in Bangalore and Chennai, the release added.
