Demo for a bank

NAMAKKAL: People and farmers in Mohanur appealed to the Central Government to establish a branch of a public sector bank in S. Vazhavanthi village.

They staged a demonstration in support of their demand here recently.

The establishment of a bank branch would help people in the village and surrounding areas to avail of various financial services, they said. The agitators also wanted the Government to open one more bank branch in Mohanur and another in Palapatti village. An ATM centre should be established in Mohanur.

The Government should ensure the functioning of at least one branch in each village panchayat in the country, they added. They wanted the State Government to provide crop loans to all the farmers. Mohanur Panchayat Union Councillor K. Chandramohan led the protest.

Subsidy to industries
State Government extended Rs. 4.35 lakh as capital subsidy to two small industries established in Namakkal district.

The subsidy was extended based on the new policy announced by the Government for the establishment of micro, small and medium enterprises.
