Colleges to get PE instructors soon

Udupi: Ganesh Karnik, MLC, on Wednesday said that the State Government would implement the recommendations of the L.R. Vaidyanathan Committee on physical education shortly. He was presiding over the inaugural function of the State-level Yogasana competition organised by the Department of Pre-University and Vocational Education here.

Recruitment
Mr. Karnik said the Government was appointing physical education instructors to pre-university colleges even if these colleges had just 100 students. Earlier, there had to be 500 students in a college for the recruitment of a physical education instructor. Services of physical education instructors would be regularised based on their eligibility and service rendered.

Lalaji Mendon and Raghupati Bhat, MLAs, Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Puttige Math, secretary of Shantivana Trust B. Sitaram Tolpadithaya, president of the District Pre-University Colleges Principals' Association M.R. Keshavamurthy, Block Education Officer D. Manjunathayya, principal of Vidyodaya Pre-University College Lakshminarayana Chatra and others were present.
