LIC scholarships for 10 students

P. Esakkirajan, Senior Divisional Manager, Life Insurance Corporation of India, Thanjavur division, on Friday handed over the first instalment of three monthly cheques for Rs. 1,000 each to 10 students under the LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme 2008-2009.

The students, who got the cheques are V.Sivaraman, first year EEE, M. Sivabala Sekaran, first year MBBS, I. Mohammed Shahjahan, first year B.Com, N.Vinothkumar, first year Diploma in ECE, K.T.Bharath, first year civil engineering, M. Shaganas, first year computer science, M. Resnika Banu, first year MBBS, R.Kiruthika, first year B.Com, M.Ramya, first year DTT, and N.Jayashri, first year ECE.

LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation announced the scholarship scheme in August 2008 for helping students belonging to economically weaker families for pursuing higher studies in Medicine, Engineering, Graduation, Diploma and vocational course. Under the scheme, five boys and five girls were selected for Thanjavur division comprising eight districts.
