TCS to organise quiz for students

COIMBATORE: Tata Consultancy Services, an IT services, business solutions and outsourcing firm, will organise 'TCS IT Wiz 2008,' a technical quiz for students on November 14 at the Coimbatore Institute of Technology.

The competition is for students from classes VIII to XII. Each institution can send multiple teams (two-members per team) to participate. Only the first 500 registered teams will be allowed to participate. It will focus on the Internet and unique websites, UT buzzwords and acronyms, IT personalities, advertisements of IT and communication companies, software products, companies, brands, history of IT.

It will also cover the areas where IT has impacted the most – education, entertainment, banking, advertising and sports.

The preliminary round will have 20 questions. The regional finals will contain six rounds – Screenager, Cryptology, Viosk, Morphing, @TCS and Wapplets.

The quiz is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

"It will enable students sharpen their competitive spirits and to experience the joys of knowledge sharing," said Ravi Viswanathan, VP and Head TCS Chennai operations.
