Free B.Ed. course for Adi Dravidars, tribals

The Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation (TAHDCO) has decided to offer a free one-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) course to Hindu Adi Dravidars/Christian-convert Adi Dravidars and tribal graduates and postgraduates through teacher education institutions approved by Thiruvalluvar University.

According to a release from Vellore Collector, interested candidates could approach the District Manager, TAHDCO, at No.8, Old District Board Building, Officers' Line, Vellore 632001 (0416-2210546), with their original and xerox copies of their mark, transfer, community and income certificates, family card and two passport size photographs. Only candidates whose annual parental income was less than Rs. 18,480 for rural students and less than Rs. 28,596 for urban students were eligible to apply.

The Collector also requested experienced teacher education institutions approved by the university and having three years experience in the field, who were interested in conducting the one-year B.Ed. course to the above category of candidates, to apply immediately to the District Manager, TAHDCO, Vellore, along with details such as recognition from the university, student strength, existing vacancies in seats, instructors, accommodation facilities and infrastructure.
