Making strides: Indian Bank CMD M.S. Sundara Rajan (centre), DRM Vasishta Johri and others at the inauguration of e-ticketing facility in Vijayawada on Friday.

VIJAYAWADA: Indian Bank on Friday launched ATM-cum-e-ticketing facility for its customers on the premises of railway station here. This is the second such facility available at the railway station, as the Canara Bank had launched a similar facility for its customers a few months ago. Those who have a debit or credit card of the Indian Bank will be able to book their journey-cum-reservation ticket at the specially arranged kiosk near the bank’s ATM on platform number one of the railway station. Users can easily pay for the ticket from their account directly and take a printout. Divisional Railway Manager Vasishta Johri inaugurated the facility.

Tie-up with Railways: Indian Bank Chairman and Managing Director M.S. Sundara Rajan said this was the third e-ticketing counter opened by the bank in Andhra Pradesh. It was planning to expand the facility to all major cities and towns in a phased manner. Though the facility was limited to those who had a card of the Indian Bank, plans were afoot to extend it to holders of any other bank card. The facility was a result of a tie-up between the bank and the Indian Railways. Mr. Sundara Rajan said the facility would initially be limited to the booking of journey-cum-reservation tickets, but would soon be extended to the issuing of general tickets. “The objective is to facilitate our customers. This facility helps them save a lot of time, as they need not stand in long queues at reservation counters,” he said.
