Cooperative banks help in economic upliftment

Chikmagalur: Cooperative banks play a significant role in raising the standard of living of people of all sections of the society, said C.T. Ravi, MLA, on Saturday.Mr. Ravi was speaking after inaugurating a workshop to educate presidents and staff of agricultural co-operative banks on the benefits of implementing the Vaidyanathan Committee report. It was organised jointly by the State Cooperative Marketing Federation, District Cooperative Union and the Department of Cooperation.

Cooperative banks were more successful than commercial banks when it came to giving agricultural loans, Mr. Ravi said.H.C. Joshi, Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, spoke about the Cooperative Act, which is useful in administration of cooperative societies.
