Coop bank staff seek pay rise

Heed demands: Thanjavur Central Co-Operative Bank Employees staging a fast demonstration on Thursday.

THANJAVUR: Staff belonging to the Thanjavur Central Co-operative Bank Employees Union on Thursday observed fast in front of the bank here urging the State Government for pay rise and issue order immediately enhancing the pay from July 1999. The fast was led by M. Pichaikannu and R. Ponnusamy, general secretaries of the Kumbakonam and Thanjavur Central Co-operative Banks Union.

The employees had also stated that the co-operative banks were incurring loss only due to non-repayment of loans by the borrowers and also non-receipt of refinance from the Government for the loans waived for the farmers.
