Thiruvananthapuram: All Kerala Blood Donors Society, Navachetana Social Circle and Medical College NSS unit will organise a workshop on voluntary blood donation on November 22 at the Medical College auditorium. The workshop will deal with technical aspects of blood donation.

Blood Donation

    * Person above 18 years of age and over 50 Kgs. in weight can donate blood once in three months.

    * A normal adult has five to six liters of blood in his/her body of which only 300 ml is used during blood donation.

    * This blood is replaced by your body within 24 to 48 hours!

    * No special diet, rest or medicine is required after blood donation.

    * The donor should not have taken any medicine in the last 48 hours.

    * The donor should not have contacted jaundice in the previous three years.

    * Every donor is given a medical checkup prior to donation to see if he/she is medically fit and doesn't suffer from anemia, high blood pressure etc.,

    * The donor cannot contract AIDS or any other disease by donating blood.
      Make Blood donation a habit .

    * There are many persons

      including females who has donated blood more than 10 -20 times in their life

KADAPA: Thirty persons donated blood at a blood donation camp organised at Rayachoti Government Hospital on Monday by a Trust, a NGO, to be sent to the injured persons of Mumbai terror attack, Trust convener Y. Nagi Reddy said.

Doctors of Ruia Hospital, Tirupati, led by Dr. R.R. Reddy collected blood fromthe donors to be sent to needy hospitals in Mumbai, Janardhan, co-convener of the NGO said.

GUNTUR: As a solidarity gesture with the Mumbaikars and the security personnel, who fought to drive away the terrorists, about 200 students of Vignan Group of Educational institutions donated blood on Vadlamudi campus on Thursday.

The Tenali Government Hospital doctors Mallikarjun Rao and M.I Rao conducted the camp, at which the group chairman Lavu Rathaiah was present.

TIRUPATI: At a blood donation camp organised here on behalf of the JD Foundation, as many as 50 persons, mostly belonging to the downtrodden communities have donated blood. Jedda Rajasekhar and his followers also have distributed fruits and bread to the patients in the government hospitals here.

A blood donation camp was held at Arilova on Monday jointly by Al-Ameer College of Engineering and IT and Chaitanya Sravanthi, a local NGO, in memory of two students who died in an accident two years ago.

Shrin Rehaman, Chaitanya Sravathi president, college secretary and correspondent I.H. Farooqui, Rotary Blood Bank medical officer Kamala Kumari and others were present.

Students donate blood

CUDDALORE: Volunteers of the National Service Scheme and the Youth Red Cross of IFET College of Engineering, Villupuram, donated 50 units of blood on Tuesday.

At a blood camp held on the college premises, a medical team from the government hospital, led by Arulselvan, collected lood. Those who participated included principal S.S. Jayachandran, organiser D. Saravanan and programme officers Murugan and Tamil Selvi (NSS) and Sivaprasad

CHENNAI: Nearly 150 students of A.M. Jain College participated in a blood donation camp organised on the college premises in Meenambakkam on Tuesday. Principal G.K. Francis inaugurated the camp, which was organised in association with the Lions Club of Tambaram East, said a press release.
