: .NET Platform and Framework

This course gives an introduction and basic explanation of the Microsoft .NET Platform and its components including the .NET Enterprise Servers (BizTalk Server Application Center Host Integration Center Mobile Information Center Internet Security and Acceleration Server and SQL Server) as well as development tools and technologies (XML ASP.NET Visual Studio.NET and SOAP). Other areas such as Universal Description Discovery and Integration (UDDI) and the .NET user experiences are also addressed at a high level. This course introduces the learner to the context of the .NET technology initiative placing it in light of its response to current limitations in Internet technology and application integration and emphasizing its importance as the 'Next Generation Internet'. The Distributed Computing Model is discussed as well as the foundational importance of XML Web Services. The course also gives an overview of the .NET Platform discussing each of the five core elements of the platform. The majority of this course is devoted to a high-level discussion of the .NET Framework. The Common Language Runtime system is covered along with a high-level introduction to the following elements of the .Net Framework: ASP.NET Visual Studio.NET Visual Basic.NET ADO.NET and C#.

Microsoft .NET Technology Overview:  .NET Server Infrastructure and Services

This course covers the .NET Enterprise Servers infrastructure explaining each of the servers in turn - BizTalk Server 2000 Application Center 2000 Commerce Server 2000 Host Integration Server SQL Server 2000 Exchange Server 2000 ISA Server 2000 Mobile Information 2001 Server. It then covers each of the chief products of the .NET initiative and each of the chief services. The course concludes with security and standards third party services and the benefits of the .NET initiative.

Microsoft Visual Studio.NET Technology Overview: .NET Framework and Visual Studio.NET


This is the first course in a two part series that teaches Visual Studio.NET. This is the newest version of Microsoft's visual development package and is a key component to the Microsoft .NET Framework. Visual Studio.NET offers a single unified development environment and gives visual design capabilities for HTML XML data and server-side code. It enables developers to customize the look and feel of the environment enhance and extend its functionality automate repetitive tasks and integrate Visual Studio.NET with other applications such as Microsoft Office. This course introduces the learner to the .NET Framework placing it in the context of the challenges of application integration and the solution it offers in terms on distributed computing. Central elements of the .NET Framework are introduced - The Common Language Runtime Class Libraries the IDE and benefits of the Framework. The course also provides a high-level introduction to Visual Studio.NET and discusses its most important new features and general features. Particular emphasis is given to Windows Forms and Controls and Rapid Application Development. ASP.NET one of the major components of Visual Studio.NET is covered and Web Services and Web Forms and Controls are explained.
