The National Overseas Scholarships in Science from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs provides an opportunity to deserving candidates to pursue higher education in a country outside India, in related fields of Engineering, Technology and Science.
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, an offshoot of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment was formally established in October 1999. The Ministry was set up with the aim of providing greater emphasis on the overall social and economic development of the scheduled tribes of our country.

The National Overseas Scholarships in Science from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs is awarded with respect to the following fields of study:

    * Biotechnology/Genetic Engineering
    * Industrial Environmental Engineering
    * Nanotechnology
    * Marine Engineering
    * Petrochemical Engineering
    * Plastic Technology
    * Cryogenic Engineering
    * Mechatronics
    * Automation Robotics /Artificial Intelligence
    * Laser Technology
    * Low Temperature Thermal Dynamics
    * Optometry
    * Art Restoration Technology
    * Dock and Harbor Engineering
    * Imaging System Technology
    * Composite Materials Engineering
    * Packaging Engineering /Technology
    * Nuclear Engineering
    * Information Technology /Computer Engineering
    * Software
    * Software Quality Assurance
    * Network/Connectivity Engineering

Eligibility Criteria for the National Overseas Scholarships in Science:

    * Candidates should be below 35 years of age
    * For post doctoral scholarships, candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in post graduation and Ph.d. Candidates should also have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience in the related field of study
    * For Ph.D. scholarships candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in post graduation. Candidates should also have a minimum of 2 years teaching or research or professional experience or M.Phil in the relevant field of study
    * For post graduation scholarships candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in graduation and should have a minimum of 2 years work experience in the relevant field.
    * The total monthly income of candidates / parents / guardians should not be more than Rs.18,000/-. Necessary documentary proof in this regard should be furnished.

Duration :

    * The post – doctoral fellowships are for a period of 18 months
    * The Ph.D fellowships are for a period of 36 months
    * The fellowships for post-graduation degrees are for a period of 24 months

Valuation of Scholarship:

    * The grant under the Fellowship Scheme provides for tuition fees and other educational expenses include living expenses and travel expenses.
    * Airfare is provided to those candidates who possess a post graduation degree in technical, engineering and science subjects.
