Scholarships for Research in Modern Indian Languages from the Central Institute of Indian Languages are meant for post graduates in linguistics and other related subjects to enable them carry out research work in doctoral studies.The Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) in Mysore, Karnataka is an institute for language study under the administrative control of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, Government of India.
The CIIL was set up to look after the overall improvement in the quality of all Indian languages by using the latest scientific methods. The CIIL also encourages detailed study on the origin and evolution of these languages so as to improve their richness. The ultimate objective of the CIIL is to bring about a strong bonding among the Indian populace, considering the diversity of Indian languages.

Duration:

The scholarships are for a maximum period of 2 years

Eligibility Criteria for the Central Institute of Indian Languages Scholarships:

Candidates applying for scholarships for obtaining a Ph.D degree should have at least a first class or high second-class post graduation degree in Indian languages or linguistics.

Value of CIIL Language Scholarships:

    * The scholarship amount for NET qualified students is Rs.5,000 per month while for non-qualified students the scholarship is Rs.4,000 per month
    * Additionally, a contingency allowance of Rs.5,000 per year is also granted
    * Candidates applying for scholarships should not be more than 30 years of age
