Local bodies in MP's Raisen passed resolutions supporting 'One Nation, One Election': Chouhan

All local bodies in one district have passed separate resolutions urging a constitutional amendment to implement simultaneous national and state elections, and the resolutions will be forwarded to the President. The resolutions-adopted by the district panchayat, 521 panchayats, three municipalities and nine municipal councils-assert that frequent staggered polls hinder development and claim synchronized polls would reduce identity-based politics. The action is presented as the district being the first to collectively endorse the proposal; the ministerial proponent also linked the initiative to concurrent discussions on tax reform and agricultural machinery pricing.
