Revised one-time tax slabs set to make high-end vehicles costlier in Maharashtra

Maharashtra state government has implemented revised one-time tax structure for vehicles, increasing the tax cap from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. High-end petrol and diesel cars above Rs 20 lakh will face additional Rs 10 lakh in taxes, with luxury vehicles attracting over Rs 20 lakh in one-time tax. CNG/LNG vehicles see 1% tax increase across price brackets. Goods carriers including pickup trucks and construction vehicles will be taxed at 7% of price rather than weight, significantly increasing costs. Electric vehicles remain exempt from one-time tax despite earlier proposals for taxation.
