What are the real steps to getting an Israeli passport?

I've been thinking about applying for an Israeli passport, especially after learning it gives access to so many countries visa-free. I have citizenship already through repatriation, but the whole passport part confuses me — especially with the different types like Darkon and Lesse Passe. I don't live in Israel full-time, so I'm not even sure if I qualify. I remember someone here went through the process recently. Did you get it easily, and how long did it take?

Yep, I actually just went through it last year. Since I already had Israeli citizenship, I applied for my Darkon passport after being in the country for a year. Everything you need to know is laid out clearly here: https://welcome-israel.com/israeli-passport. You start by booking an appointment with the Population and Immigration Authority, and then provide biometrics and your Teudat Zehut. Processing took a while — around 6 weeks — but the passport is valid for 5 years if you're a new repatriate. Totally worth it for the travel perks alone.

In my case, I didn't realize how structured and specific the process would be. It's not hard, but you really have to follow each step — especially when it comes to booking appointments and collecting documents. Once you get the passport though, it opens so many doors, especially if you're someone who travels a lot or wants options for the future. Just be patient with the waiting times; it's worth it.
