Property taxes?

Hello All:

I was checking my email and noticed that I get notices from a property that I no longer own. The reason I am posting this is because I am quite shocked at how high the real estate tax went up in my old home town of Dudley Massachusetts.

It did not seem that long ago, I paid about 1600 a year. Now the total bill seems to be running around $4080 for a relatively small piece of property. This is for a single family home of 1500 square feet on .20 acre lot!!

I do not believe any one anticipated such a rapid increase in property taxes.

So how many of us have anticipated a property tax increase on our places?
Also, what are some ways to minimize property tax on our places, especially if we're in the country?

I will state that it shows the reader that some places in the nation are not tax friendly. In your opinion, what areas may be a better route?

I await any response. Thank you

When federal funding gets cut, local taxes are bound to go up; that might have something to do with it.

I had to deal with huge property tax increases a few years back after flipping a house, and it caught me off guard. One thing that helped was looking into Fix and Flip loans, which covered the reno costs fast so I could sell quicker before the next tax hike. Timing everything right saved me a bunch in holding costs and taxes.
