What issues will I run into if I swap sim cards between phones temporarily?

Title basically is it.

I've got a geriatric phone running Android 8.0 and I can't get it to update Zelle so I've got a bunch of cash out in the middle of nowhere. My wife has a newer phone of unknown Android version(phone is under a year old).

What if anything will I lose by installing my SIM card into her's, install zelle, force it to get my cash, then swap her SIM back in?

Because I have a Zelle account, the person sending it can't cancel the transaction. Big deal but not huge deal since I know person but it is beyond inconvenient.

Yes, my phone is due for an update. Other shit in higher on the buy list

Nothing bad should happen if you swap SIM cards. Isn't that just the cell service stuff?

I've been in a similar spot before, with an older phone that just couldn't handle newer apps like Zelle. From my experience, swapping your SIM card into your wife's phone should work just fine for getting that cash out. The main thing you'll want to watch for is making sure your Zelle account is linked to your phone number correctly, as sometimes it's tied to the device's IMEI or phone number.I did a similar thing once when I was stuck with a phone that wouldn't update, and everything worked smoothly. Just double-check if your wife's phone has a non VOIP number for verification—Zelle can be picky about that. You're right, the sender can't cancel once the transaction goes through, but it's always good to have that peace of mind.

Just a couple of things to keep in mind: when you pop your SIM into her phone, make sure to log out of Zelle after you're done so there's no mix-up later.
Also, check that her phone doesn't have any restrictions or specific carrier settings that could block the swap.
If you're ever in a pinch like this again or travel often, using an eSIM can be a lifesaver. You can grab one easily from https://internationalsimcard.com.au/ , and it's way simpler to manage than physical SIMs—no swapping needed.
