Is Nokia N96 delayed until October 1?

The end it seems that is not in September when the N96 is put up for sale, but was delayed until the month of October. A big problem for Nokia which should launch the Nokia N95 replacement as soon as possible.

Despite persistent delays seems to have had to be in the UK where it has filtered date possible and not confirmed by Nokia, the launch. It may be the October 1 when it is put up for sale.

[blink]Nokia launches premium multimedia N96 in India[/blink]

Nokia launched Nokia N96 under its NSeries range of multimedia phones in India with memory size available within range of 16GB to 24 GB whereby customers can store about 18,000 songs, 20,000 images, upto 60 hours of video and 20 ful length movies. The company has announced a pre-booking (advance) scheme with a booking amount of Rs 4000 for interested customers and the phone will be available from September 2008.






The phone comes with a ''kickstand' on the back cover that allows for hands-free viewing and has a 5 Mega Pixel camera and a 2.8” screen.

A unique incorporation in the phone is a S60 security application named Wave Secure which not only tracks the handset in event of loss or theft but also keeps a backup of data via internet. Nokia says this offer is exclusively to customers in India.

The phone has a 2.0 USB port, WLAN and HSPDA compatible and also supports Nokia’s Ovi range of services. It comes with a built-in 3D stereo speakers. It has navigational capability and also provides enhanced experience for gaming enthusiasts says the company.

“Nokia's range of multi-function, converged devices clearly demonstrates that convergence is no longer an industry buzzword - it is a reality for consumers and business users today. In 2007, the Nokia N95 became an icon for convergence of Internet and mobility. With over 10 million units sold to date, the N95 has changed the way people use their mobile device,” said Devinder Kishore, Director-Marketing, Nokia India.

“Today, in the Web 2.0 Era, the new Nokia N96 places the power to shape the Internet in your hands, in addition to being to the ultimate entertainment gadget,” he added.

Nokia unveils latest convergence device

World's largest mobile manufacturer Nokia on Tuesday unveiled its latest convergence device from its 'Nseries' stable, N96, that has been optimised for unhindered web access and entertainment. To be available from the first week of September in India, N96 will offer memory size of 16GB that is expandable to 24GB through an external micro SD card.


"We have announced a pre-booking scheme that would start from Wednesday at our 2,000 Nokia outlets across the country,"
said Devinder Kishore, Director-Marketing, Nokia India, at a press conference here.

"The massive 24GB memory allows you to store up to 18,000 songs, up to 20,000 images at 5 mega pixel, up to 60 hours of video or 20 full-length movies. With multifunctional media keys and a 2.8 inch screen, music, movies, games and more are available at the touch of a button," he added.

N96 also comes preloaded with 'Wave Secure' security application that allows consumers not just to track their handset in the event it is lost or stolen, but also create a back-up for the phone data through the Internet. This is an application being offered exclusively to consumers in India, he said. Though Mr. Kishore did not reveal its price, it is likely to be priced around Rs. 30,000.

The Nokia N96 supports the Ovi family of Nokia Internet services, including maps, entertainment and media sharing. Users can also explore the world through navigation and the Nokia Maps 2.0 application. The phone is equipped with a 5 mega pixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, a dual LED flash and video light. It allows DVD-like quality video capture at 30 frames per second.
