I've been reading a lot of news articles in the last two years of people being violently robbed for their rolex. Is it really worth having something so expensive and easy to take on show? Seems a bit risky to me. Not that I'll ever buy one lol. I'm more of a look at my (cheap) phone guy.

You'll specifically get people looking out for watches, normally at event venues or nicer areas/shopping centres.
They're actively looking for watches like Rolex/AP etc.

Rolex watches are undeniably pricey, and the news about violent robberies can be unsettling. It's a valid point that flaunting something expensive can attract unwanted attention.
But hey, not everyone's into Rolex, and that's perfectly fine. Being a ""look at my (cheap) phone guy"" works just as well. It's all about personal preference and what makes you comfortable.
If you're still curious about having a Rolex-like watch without the risk, I've heard about Rolex clone watches that might pique your interest.
