Fiber broadband provider ACT launches WiFi-enabled home camera

NEW DELHI: Fiber broadband ISP ACT Fibernet on Thursday launched its first Wi-Fi-based home camera—ACT Homecam for offering a security surveillance tool to its customers.

The ACT Homecam can be set up using the TP-Link Tapo App available on Google Play and since it remains connected to the internet, a user can access the camera's live feed from anywhere using the smartphone app, the ISP said in a statement. The Homecam, however, works only on the ACT network.

Features-wise, it comes with a 2MP camera with 1080p video support and a 110-degree fisheye field-of-view for wide area coverage.

It is visible in the night up to 30ft with the night vision feature. The ACT Homecam also allows two ways of talking with a mic and audio.

The home camera can store the recording for up to 24 days with help of an external micro-SD card expandable up to 128 GB.

Additionally, the camera supports motion detection and responds during an event with alert functions. Users can also set a schedule for recording and playback when required. The recording can be disabled temporarily, as a privacy feature.

It comes enabled with Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) feature, where the user can pan the camera 360 degrees, tilt the camera lens 110 degrees through the app.

"We are beyond thrilled to bring the enhanced Home camera to our customers. Home cameras have now become a necessity in today's environment especially for those living with old parents, monitoring small children, pets, and even offices," said Prasanna Gokhale, CTO, ACT Fibernet

The Home Camera is available for a monthly subscription of Rs 200 per month with a Rs 500 deposit or Rs 2249+GST as the outright sale. It can be purchased both on the ACT Fibernet website and app.
