Important differences and similarities between Pentium and Celeron Processor

Important differences and similarities between Pentium and Celeron Processor can be categorized as:

1) CORE – The Celeron chip is based on a Pentium 4 core.

2) CACHE MEMORY – Celeron chips have less Cache Memory than Pentium chips. A Celeron might have 128KB of L2 Cache Memory where as a Pentium 4(or Pentium Duo or Pentium Quad) have more than four folds of cache memory than the latter.

"The amount of L2 Cache has a great impact on Performance".

3) CLOCK SPEED – Pentium chips have higher clock speed than Celeron chips. The fastest Pentium chip might be 60 – 70% faster than the Fastest Celeron chip.

4) BUS SPEED – Pentium chips tend to have 30 % faster system bus than Celerons.

So which processor to choose?

Selection of processor depends upon the type of work you are indulging in. System Performance depends heavily on L2 Cache and System Bus speed. If you are going to simply check your mail, browse the web and smaller task, Celeron Will do since its cost effective. Celeron Processor is cheaper than the Pentium.

But if you are doing heavy tasks, playing big games and more than Pentium 4 or Pentium Duo or Pentium Quad will do. Since Pentium chips have the highest clock speed and fastest system bus.

Thanks for the useful information

I prefer the Pentium Processor...
I will work with multiple tasks
