Dart releases version 2.10 with unified developer tool

The latest release of Dart programming language brings unified features for developer tools. The latest version of the programming language allows tackling all needs such as creating projects, analysing and formatting code etc.

The new developer tools in Dart are similar to Flutter tools. The company has also included an update on the null safety roadmap, timelines and a discussion of the principles. The latest release makes it easy to migrate the existing code to null safety.

The features help in avoiding hard-to-spot null errors and adds performance improvements. In an official blog post, Michael Thomsen, product manager at Dart wrote, "If you do both Flutter and general-purpose Dart development, you get both developer experiences from a single Flutter SDK, without needing to install anything else."

The introduction of null safety comes with Flutter experimentation technical preview 2, which will go live next month. Thomsen expects to see package owners starting migration of their packages to null safety.

Null safety is a fundamental change to the Dart typing system. It will require careful implementation of a set of principles for migrating to null safety features.

Dart is working towards helping package owners start the migration of their packages. The last round of validation is to check if the feature is ready for a stable release. The team has plans to add more dart tools and deprecate the smaller tools like dartdoc, dartfmt, dartanalyser and more in future releases.
