Kannada organizations protest against Hindi Day celebrations in Bangalore

The Hindi Day celebrations were held at central government offices across the country yesterday. Various Kannada organizations, including Karnataka Raksha Vedic and Jayakarnataka, staged a protest at Anandrao Circle in Bangalore yesterday. The participants chanted slogans against the Hindi dump and to celebrate the Hindi Day. Speaking on the occasion, Narayana Gowda, President of the Karnataka Raksha Vedic Organization said: -

The fact that the Central Government has only Hindi and English as the official languages is an injustice to other languages. India is a country of many languages and cultures. The partnership will only last if this is preserved. The Central Government should stop trying to impose Hindi language on other language speaking people. Hindi Day festival should not be held.

All languages should be treated equally as stated in the Constitution. The Constitution should be amended to recognize all 22 languages as official languages. Emphasis should be placed on all languages, including education and employment. Thus spoke Narayanaguda.

Similarly, the Kannada Saluvali Kendra Samithi organized a protest at the Mysore Bank Circle in Bangalore against the Hindi Day celebrations. They then set fire to the idol and protested against the Hindi dump.
