Google Introduces New Features for G Suite Business Users

Google has come up with a new feature to unify Gmail, Chat Rooms, and Meet for G Suite Business Users."We're integrating core tools like video, chat, email, files, and tasks, and making them better together, so that you can more easily stay on top of things, from anywhere," informed Google in a blog post. The company looks forward to making it a better home to work.

The New feature provides the desktop users with a view of chat in one column, a doc in another, and a Google Meet video chat hovering over both.

In order to improve real-time collaboration, google brings all of G Suite's communication tools under one tab. Users can co-edit documents with their team on one side of the window at the same time video chatting on the other side using Gmail's chat feature. It helps them to avoid switching between tabs while working.

Google is also integrating its chat with the mail feature under Gmail. That means, at a click of button within Gmail, users can switch between chats and emails. This also allows them to search within chats, like how they do in emails.

The new feature also help users to use new tools to pin important rooms, and new "do not disturb" and "out of office" settings.

There are also features for shared files and tasks in Chat rooms where the group can access common chats and important documents.

"The idea behind this is not just to bring these ingredients into the same pane of glass, but also realizing something that's greater than the sum of its parts," G Suite VP and GM Javier Soltero said.

Google in May integrated its Meet video conferencing service into Gmail. The meet has facilities for scheduling and screen sharing, real-time captions, and layouts that adapt to the preferences of users.

Gmail introduced the Meet feature at a time were a massive number of people worked and studied through video conferencing due to COVID – 19 Crisis
