One thing that many of us would have heard from homeowners, long ago,  "solar panels in my home sound nice, but are a little expensive". This may have been the case when the technology was new, but today, there are multiple options that make solar affordable, feasible and accessible to everyone.

Residential solar allows homeowners to access clean solar energy from as low as $0, with no maintenance worries and absolutely no debt. You pay for the energy at a low monthly rate and ultimately the solar is delivered as a service. Solar panels are installed on the ground or on the roof, maintained and daily monitored. Residential solar has made its journey from just "nice to have" to "need to have".

Residential Solar Battery

Home battery storage is another key part of the story. Technology has advanced and it has become more affordable for communities and people to have their own solar battery backup to protect families during power outages.

According to a report, around 2 million Latinos live within a half mile of existing energy infrastructure, due to which these communities face elevated health risks. A Latino or an African American child is twice as likely to die from asthma attack as a white American child.

The devastating hurricane Irma hit Florida in 2017. During this calamity, solar-paired battery systems powered 115 schools, which were sheltering thousands of residents. At the same time, more than 6.7 million utility customers were stuck in the dark.

With residential solar, houses can produce their own energy, and create a clean, localized energy system.

Going Solar

The economic impact of using solar helps the local economy to get a lift through job creation and permitting fees. Around 25% of home solar project costs stay in the local economy and around 6% of large commercial project costs are spent similarly. Solar provides high-paying jobs for veterans, who make up 9% of solar workers, and for those without a college degree.

Residential solar has never been so affordable than it is right now. So, if you haven't started thinking about investing in residential solar panels, this is right time to move one step ahead in the direction of green revolution.
