Babar Ali (Youngest Headmaster)

Babar Ali was named the 'youngest headmaster in the world' by BBC in October 2009, at the age of 16. He is the first member of his family ever to get a proper education. It all started in 2002, when Babar was nine years old and on his way back from school he would see children from his neighborhood doing odd jobs or just idling away time. He wondered if he could teach them what he learnt in school and gathered a few children under a tree in his backyard. They played school-school and Babar spoke to them about his school and what he learnt there. The children were very interested and what started as a game gradually grew in number and Babar's school Anand Siksha Niketan was institutionalized in 2002 with the strength of eight.
Babar started his day at 7 in the morning with house hold chores and used to walk five kilometers to his school. He was the ideal student in school but what he did after school astonished the whole world. While most children crib about their allowances and extra work this boy was helping to make the world a better place. When the children of the village and localities are done with their chores and jobs during the day, they come to attend Babar's afternoon school. In 2012 the school had 60 regular attendees and over 220 students on roll-call and 800 students in total, with 10 volunteer teachers teaching grades 1 through 8.Babar Ali's story is a testament to the fact that if you have a will then surely there is a way.

In addition to this, they conduct programs to educate people (especially children) about the environment, try to find solutions for waste-related problems like access to clean water, health and sanitation problems and the way careless waste disposal affects animal and wildlife. Jodie's first mass clean up in McLeod Ganj, the home of the Dalai Lama was attended by over 100 people and it proved to her she wasn't the only person who wanted a cleaner India. She formed the group the Mountain Cleaners in April 2009. The Mountain Cleaners are a group of volunteers who are committed to cleaning up the Indian Himalayas, little by little through a combination of direct action, liaison and awareness raising. "In India, people have a terrible attitude towards those who clear waste. They are the invisible people. Without them India would have disappeared under its garbage" says Jodie, who won Times Now's Amazing Indian Award in 2012. She is excited about the Swachh Bharat initiative, and is eager to make a presentation to the prime minister. All of us can make a difference and curb the growing garbage crisis. Vow never to throw garbage on the ground and teach children to do the same, segregate your waste at home, sign up to a waste collection service whenever possible, say no to plastic bags and carry a cloth bag while shopping. Let's all take that small step towards a cleaner India.

Tyler Page (Kids Helping Kids)

Human trafficking is an international problem affecting millions of people and many countries around the world. Child trafficking unlike many other issues is found in both developed and developing nations. The latest figures estimate that 1.2 million children are trafficked worldwide every year.
Tyler Page is a high school student in North California. He manages to balance school, his love of football, baseball and theater and is also helping eradicate child slavery in Ghana, Africa. He spends most of his spare time by speaking to schools, groups, and other organizations in an effort to create awareness and as an advocate to put an end to human trafficking. When he was 10, Tyler saw a television program about children in Ghana sold by their parents into forced fishing labor. He was shocked at the way the children were being treated and the inhumane conditions they had to live in.
Tyler wanted to do something to help the children come out of their miserable circumstances. After some research he found out that just $240 could keep a child out of such horrible conditions for a year. He decided to raise money with the help of his friends and suggested the idea of a carwash. He got together his classmates and friends to wash cars and raise money.Tyler's goal was to raise $240 - enough to support one Ghanaian child for a year.  But when the carwash was over, he had $1,175 in hand.Realizing that kids had the power, Tyler started recruiting young people throughout his community to help him raise money.  They hosted more carwashes, sold cookies, set up lemonade stands, and conducted other fundraisers.  His mother helped him establish a nonprofit organization called Kids Helping Kids and a website to inspire kids everywhere to make a difference in their communities.Tyler and his organization have raised more than $100,000 to aid children in Ghana, as well as to provide books for young victims of Hurricane Katrina, meals for local and global needy families, candy for troops in Iraq, assistance to kids with major medical expenses, and other causes. Tyler Page's achievements are incredible. At such a young age he has proved that it isn't about money at all, it's all about connecting the human spirit and making a difference.

Richard Turere (Lion Lights)

Richard 13, is from Kitengala on the edge of the Nairobi National Park, in Kenya. He started heading his family's cattle at the age of 9. Richard doesn't like lions, Infact he hates them, Yet this smart Maasai boy has found an innovative solution that helps the survival of these magnificient beasts by keeping them away from humans. One night when Richard was walking around with a flashlight, he discovered that lions were scared of a moving light. That's where the idea was born and he put his young mind to work. A few weeks later he came up with an innovative, simple and low-cost system to scare the predators away. Richard took a series of flashing LED bulbs from broken flashlights and rigged up an automated lighting system of four or five torch bulbs around the cattle stockade. The bulbs are wired to a box with switches, and to an old car battery charged with a solar panel that operates the family television set. They were designed to flicker on and off intermittently, thus tricking the lions into believing that someone was moving around carrying a flashlight. He calls the system Lion Lights. Richards little device of four or five lamps, some wires and a few batteries costs less than ten dollars. His family has not lost any livestock to the wild beasts, to the great delight of his father and astonishment of his neighbors. Now households across Kenya use lion lights and protect their livestock from predators and their crops from elephants, and Richard is attending a prestigious high school, studying subjects like foreign languages he never would have otherwise.

Volunteers offer their time to deliver the smile packs, most of which contain donated toys. The organisation also helped build a children's playroom at the Attam-Vallabh Hospital in rural India. Determined to share her optimism and strength with others, Risha, who interns at UC Irvine's new stem cell lab, hopes to enter the medical field and research stem cell or islet cell transplants, which are used for patients with pancreatitis.
