Infrastructure and facilities for the B.Arch. program

GITAM B.Arch. curriculum

The curriculum goes beyond classroom teaching to incorporate research and development in designing structures and interiors. About one-quarter of the total program will be undertaken at other institutes at GITAM. You will also undertake unique study trips to the places of architectural interest.

At the early level of the program, you will learn basic conceptual skills & architectural elements. Courses in history and drawing are also included. You will not only master technical subjects but also understand the historical and cultural aspects of architecture. You will thus acquire an in-depth understanding of the basic principles of construction and project management.

The curriculum includes:
How to gather information and assess & apply it to your architectural coursework

How to use basic architectural principles when you design a building or site or interior

How to recognize talented individuals for setting up a design project team

How to design architectural spaces for people with varying physical abilities.

How to apply principles of sustainability for the preservation of resources, both natural and man-made

How to make estimations and technically precise drawings

Knowledge of you responsibility as an architect as per the laws


Admissions process

You need to be qualified either in National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) which is conducted by Council of Architecture, New Delhi or JEE (Main) B.Arch which is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. You will get admission on the basis of the rank obtained as per the marks secured in both, the qualifying exam & the architectural aptitude test.



Eligibility requirements

1. You should have scored a minimum of 50% aggregate marks with Mathematics as a subject of the examination at the Higher Secondary or Equivalent (10+2) level in any group from a recognized Central/State Board in India.

2. You should have a pass core in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA), New Delhi, either in 2012 or 2013
OR
You should have a pass core in JEE (Main) B.Arch conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in 2013.

How to Apply

1. You can download the application form for admissions from the official website: http://www.gitam.edu/GSA/Content.aspx?id=934).

2. You can obtain the application form for admissions at Union Bank of India or Indian Bank India (the list of branches is available on the website).

3. You should send the filled in application form along with the requisite attested copies of the certificates mentioned below + fee of Rs.600/- in the form of DD drawn in favor of 'GITAM University' payable at Visakhapatnam, to: The Director, GITAM School of Architecture, GITAM University, Rushikonda, Visakhapatnam-530 045, A.P.

Last date for submission: on or before 29th June 2013.

Certificates Required

(1) The Date of Birth extract of SSC / ICSE / CBSE / Matriculation certificate
(2) Your Intermediate / 10+2 certificate
(3) Your NATA Score Card or JEE (Main) B.Arch Score Card
(4) A Caste Certificate issued by appropriate authority for claiming reservation under SC/ST
(5) Medical Certificate issued by appropriate authority for claiming under PH category

Fee Structure

First year fee: Rs.1,93,600/-. This includes: (a)Tuition fee: Rs.1,70,000/- and (b) Special Fee: Rs.23,600/-
Second year fee: Rs. 1,93,600/-
Third year fee: Rs. 1,93,600/-
Fourth year fee: Rs. 1,93,600/-
Fifth year fee: Rs. 1,93,600/-

Note: the first year fee has to be paid at the time of admission counseling.
