1. Write Bode's law

2. Explain magnitude of a star.

3. State any one law of refraction.

4. Write the effect of geocentric parallax on the rising
and setting of a celestial body.



5. State Kepler's first law of motion.

6. Explain Julian date.

7. Define Penumbra.

8. Write the maximum duration of annular solar
eclipse and partial solar  eclipse.

9. Define elongation.

10. Write any one advantage of Flamsteed's method.

Answer ALL questions.
Each question carries 16 marks.

11. (a) Trace the variations in the durations of day
and night during the year at a place on the
equator.
(b) Explain the Galaxy.
(c) Find the number of consecutive nights
having twilight throughtout night.
(d) Find the time taken by a star to rise from a
small vertical distance ' x ' below the horizen.

12. (a) Derive tangent formula for refraction.
(b) Show that aberration varies as the sine of
Earth's way
Or
(c) Find the effect of procession on the R.A. and
declination of a star.

13. (a) Verify Kepler's second law in the case of
Earth. 
(b) With usual notations prove that

first point of Aries.
(b) Explain Harvest moon.
(c) Derive an expression for phase of the moon.
(d) Find the relation between sidereal and
synodic months.
