Programme for students

ERODE: Confectionery major Parle Products will launch an environment programme for school students.

A release from the company says as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative it has launched the Parle My Green Planet.

The company added that it will encourage students to collect wrappers off the streets of 70-plus towns.

Students of 13 schools including Vivekananda Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kamaraja MPL Higher Secondary School, Railway Colony Municipal School will participate in the programme, the purpose of which is to reduce wastage of plastic, increase environment awareness and conserve the ecosystem rather than just complain about it.

Titled the School Giving Programme, it is first in a series of similar environmental awareness campaigns that are planned to be undertaken under the Parle My Green Planet banner, the release says.

To encourage the students to collect maximum wrappers, Parle Products has instituted Class of the School and Green School of the City award.
