Put off D.Ed. exam
HAVERI: A large number of D.Ed. students took out a procession under the aegis of the Students Federation of India (SFI) in Haveri on Saturday to protest against the decision of the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSSEB) to advance the annual examination for D.Ed. students.
The protest march began from J.H. Patel Circle and passed through the thoroughfares of the city. The protesters raised slogans against KSSEB authorities for their sudden and unscientific decision to advance the examinations.
SFI district unit president Basavaraj Pujar and others addressed the protesters at the Mahatma Gandhi Circle.
Mr. Pujar said that the usual practice was to hold the annual examination in November. Although this year it was scheduled to begin from September 23, the authorities had decided suddenly to advance it to September 10. This would cause a lot of hardship to students, he said.
Mr. Pujar and other speakers said that internship of D.Ed. students would end on August 30 after which they had to appear for practical examinations. The students would be left with no time to prepare for the annual examination if it is held from September 10, they said and demanded that the examination be held in October.
